  • Overview

    The Senior Buyer/Planner is responsible for commodities or assignments requiring application of basic purchasing principles, theories and concepts.  The Buyer ensures timely acquisitions of product or service from known sources of supply.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Responsible for accuracy of all visibility and action reports for commodities assigned
    • Responsible for completion of all tasks generated by action/visibility reports, including monthly MRP reports, looking to Senior Buyer/Planner and/or Procurement Specialist for direction and problem resolution
    • Balance production schedule support and ABC inventory classifications in scheduling production materials
    • Respond to shortage notices and expedite requests
    • Complete all aspects of the procurement cycle in a positive and ethical manner
    • Comply with the "Purchasing Policy Manual", contents, applications and requirements
    • Provide support and assistance to other buyers/planners as requested
    • Comply with company policies and procedures regarding Employee health, safety, and conduct.

    Qualifications

    • BA/BS degree or equivalent
    • A minimum of five years experience in a high mix / option electronics manufacturing environment is preferred
    • Solid background working with contract manufacturers
    • FDA/PMA experience highly preferred
    • CPM/CPIM Certification in progress and/or equivalent college level
    • Excellent communication and diplomacy skills necessary in order to obtain mutually beneficial goals between departments and suppliers
    • Materials Management/Purchasing course completion preferred

    • Relevant experience in supplier negotiation is helpful
