The Lead test engineer designs, builds, validates and provides on-going support for production test systems used by Cardiac Science and its suppliers. They evaluate product designs and make recommendations to engineering to facilitate production level testing of Cardiac Science products and key components.


  • Day to day Management including assignment of projects, establishing priorities and providing mentoring and training to a small team of test engineers and technicians.
  • Development and implementation of custom production test systems for both PCBA’s and final product assemblies.
  • Implement changes to existing production test systems as needed to meet new product test requirements or to improve test yields or test throughput.
  • Validation of new test systems and changes to existing test systems including: developing validation protocols, conducting the validation protocol and writing and releasing the subsequent validation reports.
  • Day to day support for existing in-house test systems including troubleshooting/repair, maintenance and system upgrades as needed.
  • Support Cardiac Science parts/assembly suppliers with installation, troubleshooting and repair of Cardiac Science provided test systems.
  • Monitor and interpret test data to support on-going product quality and production process improvements.
  • Support Manufacturing on root cause analysis and corrective action for product and production problems.
  • Provide input during new product development to insure products and key product subassemblies and components can be properly tested in production.
  • Ensure product release documentation is clear, accurate and complete.
  • Assist in component characterization and in qualification of new and/or alternate components


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Biomedical or Software Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum of 7-9 years experience in the development and implementation of custom production test systems.
  • Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment.      
  • Experience with operating and setting up automated test equipment and test processes.
  • Experience with bed of nails test fixtures.
  • Experience in development, implementation, and proper documentation of test system validation plans and protocols.
  • Experience and expertise in development of test system control software using Labview, Test Stand, or C++ platforms.
  • Expertise in PCB and system level functional test techniques.
  • Strong skills in circuit analysis and analytical troubleshooting.
